After conversations with various officials about the danger of a deliberate car fire spreading to properties, Dover District Council Installs First CCTV in South Sandwich. Even the entrance to the Gazen Salts Nature reserve in the north has a CCTV in order to protect…well I’m not sure, perhaps it’s from visitors with dogs on leads? This used to be allowed but was recently banned. I guess we have to ensure that even senseless rules are adhered to.
The new CCTV was installed hours after it being explained that the area needed the camera. Not everyone is pleased about this potential ‘invasion of privacy’. The installer explained that the camera does not look into house windows as this is somehow prevented. Others argued that telling everyone that the cameras were there defeated its purpose while some argued that knowing the cameras were watching them persuaded those with anti-social tendencies to do them elsewhere, perhaps even outside their house. Can’t please them all.
