Here is the Filming for the Housebound YouTube video of the Sandwich Town Council (STC) Finance & General Purpose Committee meeting held 19/02/25.
I have bookmarked the Fishergate discussion (Agenda item 8, Attach 5) under Description on the video at 29:58 minutes from the start of the video, where the Agenda item motion was to “note the report”, yet members debated and moved to resolve to recommend to Council that STC pursues the path of turning Fishergate into a HOLIDAY LET rather than a museum or office (the three options reported on by the Project Manager, Agenda pages 29-57).
Previously, the Council had Resolved a conditional offer of a lease to the Sandwich Heritage Harbour Trust (SHHT) (March’22: STC.21.03.22) but a delay in progressing the matter occurred for reasons unknown to the public (possibly discussed in confidential session in Sept’24: STC.09.24.23). The terms of the proposed lease to SHHT were not discussed in this meeting despite the 2022 resolution indicating refurbishment costs would be split with SHHT rather than STC covering the full expense. However, a mention was made of the Council being “supportive of their (SHHT’s) desire to find alternative or suitable premises around the Quay or elsewhere” (Cllr C. Wiles, F& GP Chair), inferring that SHHT have given notice to STC that they no longer wish to lease Fishergate.
